There is a New Procedure for U.S. Visa Stamping In Mexico Effective January 10, 2011!
Beginning January 10, 2011, the U.S. Embassy and Consulates will process visas differently. Under the new procedure, TCN applicants will go to Applicant Service Centers (ASCs) prior to their consular section interview. There, the ASC staff will collect the applicant’s biometric information (fingerprints and photographs) that will be reviewed by the consular section prior to the applicant’s interview. This process takes approximately 10-30 minutes. ASC appointments must be done at least one business day before and can not be done on the same day as the U.S. Consulate (USC) interview.
The ASC buildings are located separate from the U.S. Embassy and Consulates and are operated by a third-party.
The ASC process generally only takes approximately 15-45 minutes to complete.
You will then have to appear in person at the US Consulate for your interview on the date that you have selected. The visa officer will let you know immediately after your interview whether or not your US visa is approved and/or if extra administrative processing is required. You will then be given further instructions on how to collect your passport from DHL if your U.S. visa is approved.
Your passport will then be handed over to the local DHL office which will be in charge of issuing your passport with your new US visa stamp. This process can take 1-2 business days after the passport is released by the U.S. Consulate to DHL.

PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION:
The U.S. visa stamping process is not the same as it was a few years ago.
It is now taking longer to get the passport back with the new visa stamp.
People who have been out-of-status or on any "bench" period should consult with an experienced U.S. Immigration attorney prior to scheduling any appointment with the ASC, USC, or MAS.
The U.S. Consulates are specifically verifying salaries from all W2's while the applicant has been in the U.S. on a work visa to ensure that the salaries paid are at or above what the LCA states. Anyone who has a salary that is less than what the LCA states should consult with an experienced U.S. Immigration attorney prior to scheduling an appointment with the ASC, USC, or MAS.
