USVISAMEX CLIENT FAQ's
ALL MAS CLIENTS MUST READ THIS PAGE PRIOR TO CALLING.
Help keep our costs low so we can pass the savings on to you! This website is my 24/7 representative ready to answer your questions and give you all the information that I can possibly give you over the phone.
Q: Am I eligible for stamping in Mexico?
A: This type of specific question should be directed to your legal adviser. It is very important to determine your eligibility prior to coming down to avoid any extra expenses and/or headaches in the event of a lengthy delay or visa denial. You can also find information by visiting the U.S. Consulate official websites.
Q: Do I need a Mexican Visa?
A: Mexican Immigration has recently made changes with the issuance of permits/visas for anyone wishing to enter Mexico. They have made it much easier!
While it may not be absolutely mandatory to have a Mexican visa to cross the border into Mexico (those holding a valid U.S. Visa stamp at the time of crossing) and remain in the border area; it will be in the event that you are not issued a new U.S. visa, the previous (valid) U.S. visa is canceled, and you are not allowed to re-enter to the U.S.
That is the worst case scenario for any TCN wishing to renew a U.S. visa at a U.S. Consulate in Mexico.
It is highly recommended that you obtain the Mexican Visa by contacting the Mexican Consulate nearest you. Please click here to find out more information.

Q: What documents do I need for my interview?
A: You can find the list of required documents when you schedule your appointment or also on the U.S. Consulate official website. I highly suggest that you also consult with your company or legal adviser prior to coming down to ensure that you have everything in order. If you do not have access to a legal adviser, you should make use of the one listed on our site for the comprehensive attorney review service.
Q: What is the earliest appointment available?
A: You will need to register with the appointment reservations system website to see what appointments are available. That information can change by the day so there is no way for me to tell you what is available at any given time. If you do not see the dates that suit your schedule, please keep checking back as new appointments may become available.
Q: How do I start the process?
A:
1. ELIGIBILITY:
Your first step is to determine your eligibility for stamping in Mexico. Seek legal advice for this!!!!
2. PAY US VISA APPLICATION FEES AND SCHEDULE YOUR ASC/USC APPOINTMENT DATES:

Q: What does ASC Consulate mean?
A: The procedure has changed as of January 10, 2011 at every U.S. Consulate in Mexico and eventually worldwide. There are now two separate appointments needed to complete the U.S. Consulate interview process. One appointment is at the ASC which will collect your biometric information (fingerprint and photograph). This process usually only takes about 15-20 minutes. A second interview is required for all TCN's and will take place at the U.S. Consulate with a visa officer. This process usually take 30 - 60 minutes. The officer will let you know whether or not your US visa is approved after your appointment. All passports will then be distributed at the local DHL office for disbursement. You will obtain a DHL tracking number via the CSC/ASC reservation website.
Q: Is the ASC mandatory?
A: Yes. The ASC is a mandatory procedure. Everyone needs to go to the ASC appointment. It is only to collect your biometrics information and everyone has to go through it before going for the interview with the U.S. Consulate. It is basically the same procedure as always that was done inside the U.S. Consulate, now just done in a different building.
Q: Is the USC mandatory?
A: Yes. Every TCN will need to appear for the consular interview.
Q: When should I plan to arrive to stamping destination?
A: Everyone's ASC/USC appointment dates and/or travel itineraries differ for the most part. To keep this as simple as possible, YOU first need to figure out which travel itinerary works out best for YOU. Based on that information, we (USVISAMEX) can make the necessary arrangements to get you where you have to go. We need to know your travel information; i.e. when you plan on arriving, how you are arriving, when your ASC/USC appointment dates are, etc. so we (MAS) can be ready for you. A lot of planning takes place to ensure that everyone is taken care of accordingly. It is recommended that you try to arrive the night before whenever possible to help ensure that you arrive on time in the event of a delay in your travel.
Q: When should I contact/register with USVISAMEX?
A: We can take clients as early as the day before, however, I suggest that you pay and register yourself as quickly as possible once you have scheduled your ASC/USC appointment dates and are certain that you will be coming down for those dates. The more time you give us, the better it is for us to make the necessary arrangements for your transportation needs. It also makes it easier for us to locate others who plan on sharing expenses. People who wait until the last minute for whatever reason, may experience a delay in getting their USVISAMEX Confirmation/Instructions Email, experience difficulties in locating others to share expenses, or may not have enough time to speak to me before coming down to Brownsville.
Remember, the more time we have, the better the service will be for you.
Q: How long will the process take nowadays with the new ASC procedure?
A: We have absolutely no idea what each individual case will take. It can take anywhere from 2 - 5 business days and even longer for some people to get the passport back after your US consulate appointment. Please visit the updates page for each location to get the very latest information. Please keep in mind that every case is different. It is best to be as flexible as possible nowadays with the new ASC procedure. I suggest to leave your return flight open or just wait to book your return flight once you obtain your visa.
Q: How many days gap is needed between ASC interview and consulate interview?
A: The gap between appointment dates ASC/USC all depends on the availability of appointments for each location. Some people get them both on the same day, and most others on different days. The gap can vary between 1 day + between appointments. If you do not find what you want, keep checking back to see when more dates become available. Please keep in mind that the reservation system calender changes by the hour so more dates can become available if people cancel or reschedule their appointments.
Q: What are my chances of getting my visa stamped?
A: This is a very popular question and I honestly have no idea why people think I have the answer. I have absolutely no control over the decision to stamp your U.S. Visa nor do I know anything about my clients' cases. I am also not qualified to give out any kind of legal advice to anyone. We are quite simply a logistics support service. Our job is to arrange for the logistics with your U.S. Visa stamping in Mexico. This is also one of those very popular questions that needs to be directed to your legal adviser.
Q: Can I return to the U.S. if my visa gets rejected or delayed?
A: There is a certain procedure involved in returning to the U.S. if you experience a delay or rejection at the U.S. Consulate. The U.S. Immigration officials have the final say in whether you are allowed back into the U.S. There is no guarantee that you will be allowed back in. It is on a case by case basis. You will receive the full explanation regarding the process if you encounter a delay or rejection.
Q: Do I need Mexican currency?
A: You really don't need to have Mexican currency. U.S. Dollars and credit/debit cards are accepted at all the hotel and nearby restaurants. It is advisable to carry no more than $50.00 USD.
Q: What DHL office should I select?
A: Place the cursor over the location that you wish to visit, then click on the sub page on the right hand side that states "DHL Location"
