American Airlines
- Dallas - Brownsville - 1 hour 30 minutes
This airport is approximately 20 minutes from the U.S./Mexico border as well as the hotel zone in Brownsville, Texas. This is a small airport which usually means that you can arrive up to 10 minutes before your flight departs and still have a chance at making your flight.
You will usually find your last flight out of this airport no later than 5:30 P.M., but I have seen flights departing later during peak travel times.
Harlingen, Texas (HRL)
- United Airlines
- Houston - Harlingen - 1 hour 5 minutes
Southwest Airlines
Austin - Harlingen - 50 minutes
Houston - Harlingen - 1 hour 5 minutes

This airport is approximately 50 minutes from the U.S./ Mexico border and 35 minutes away from the hotel zone in Brownsville, Texas. This is also a small airport but you should arrive here at least 20 minutes before your flight departs to still have a chance of making it.
There are usually later flights as compared to the BRO airport here. Sometimes you can find a 7:30 P.M. Southwest flight to Houston.

There is a section of highway that stretches 60 miles approximately 2 hours north of Brownsville that does not have any gas/service stations.
Watch out for State Troopers and be cautious in the small towns along the way. They have been known to be speed traps. Pay close attention to the speed limits!
Driscoll, Texas
Robstown, Texas
Kingsville, Texas
There is a secondary U.S. Immigration check point approximately 100 miles or 1.5 hours north of Brownsville. You will need to show your passport and I 94. Pretty quick unless there is traffic.
Remember:
The U.S. Immigration/ I 94 office is 20 minutes away from the BRO airport and 50 minutes away from the HRL airport.
TIPS:
It is best to arrive the day/night before your ASC appointment to ensure that you won't miss it in the event of a flight delay or cancelation.
Book your return flight no earlier than the day after your USC appointment, last flight. This will give you ample time to make changes if you experience a delay, and you will not be in such a rush.
If you miss your connecting flight in Houston the night before your ASC, you can wait for the first flight the following day, rent a car and drive down overnight, or take the Greyhound bus. This is a benefit of traveling the day before your ASC appointment.
Delay or Finished Earlier
You have the option of preponing your flight, fly stand-by, and leave in that manner.
Stay the night in Brownsville and leave the following day if you finished early.
Or you can also take the Greyhound bus to Houston or San Antonio and catch a flight from there.
The benefit of taking the bus is that you don't have to pay for a hotel room. You can sleep on the bus and it is quite inexpensive. Average ticktet to Houston is $40.00 or less.
Flights from Houston are MUCH cheaper than they are in Brownsville or Harlingen.
